Mid Hillside Community Council

Minutes 18 March 2004

John Weddleton, President, convened meeting at 7:05 pm.  Attendees included __ MHCC, __ HECC, and approximately __ others.

The legislative Call-in featured Kevin Meyers and Con Bunde.  Items discussed included POMV, school funding, including the “formula”, and possible revenue options such as a ‘head tax’, a tobacco tax,  an income tax or a sales tax.  They also discussed the three competing proposals for a gas line.

The  Assembly Report by Dick Tremaine discussed the upcoming bonds proposals.

Dennis ___ of Anchorage Tomorrow presented information on the Road Bonds.

Jeff Friedman presented information on the School Bonds.

Dee Ford of the Library Advisory Committee spoke about the Library Bond.

The replatting of two lots between Our road and Klinger to form six lots was discussed.  The CC approved a motion of non-objection to the replat pending Platting Board approval, with a note that driveway access on the steep section of Our Road might present a problem.

The Anchorage Roads Coalition made a presentation on Context Sensitive Design, which focused on fitting roads to their environment,  rather than modifying the environment to fit the road.  Their contention is that smaller, slower, more scenic roads can get the job done, with less intrusion into the neighborhoods they are meant to serve.  They are asking for a motion of support at the April meeting.

Anyone who has comments on the Title 21 rewrite,  should send them to John Weddleton.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm.
